Laura was educated at Walthamstow Hall and Exeter University and started her career aged 18, backstage at the Connaught Theatre, Worthing. Working as an Actress, seasons at Marlowe Theatre Canterbury, in Rep, and on television and in commercials followed until in 1986 she crossed over into a career as a Casting Director. Her early credits include Richard Jones’ 1989 West End production of Into The Woods starring Imelda Staunton and Ian Bartholomew at the Phoenix Theatre, Mike Batt’s The Hunting of the Snark at the Prince Edward and Gillian Lynne’s Valentine’s Day.
TV casting credits include 10 series of the much loved and still aired comedy As Time Goes By with Judi Dench & Geoffrey Palmer, and 6 series of May to December which introduced a young Ashley Jensen. Laura cast the BBC Series Berkeley Square and City Central and for Channel Four, the Emmy and Bafta Award winning, The Illustrated Mum by Jacqueline Wilson. Single films for ITV included The Railway Children, Pollyanna, Dead Gorgeous, 4 series of DCI Banks, Left Bank Pictures’ The Ice-Cream Girls and recently Tommy Cooper: Not Like That, Like This starring David Threlfall and Amanda Redman, who was nominated for a Bafta for Best Supporting Actress.
Laura has also cast several feature films including most recently Acts of Godfrey, The Great Ghost Rescue and Good starring Viggo Mortensen.
